At the time I created this project, I called it “Surreal Land Place”. However, looking back at that era, I think the title “Forest of the Dark Night” is much more appropriate, and so, I thus rename it. 2006 was the start of, and one of the darkest periods in, a series of dark nights of the soul that have befallen me, only recently to have abated to the light of Day.
The project consisted of a number of simple html webpages of digital collages with links hidden throughout. Clicking the links would take the person interacting on a little adventure through and around a phosphorescent night forest, a moonlit forest, an unusual forest dweller’s humble home, and other interesting places. Effectively providing a surreal escape from, as well as covert camouflage for the realities I was both entangled in, and running from at the time. Looking back I feel the pain, but also the growth that has come. I am very grateful, and lucky, to have made it this far. Here I share with you just a few images from Forest of the Dark Night.
