Good Home // Bad Home

  1. Did you say
    your house
    really was a Home?
    or did you just have
    no other option
    ice,
    or emptiness
    where there should have been warm

    with nowhere else to go
    what else is there
    to do?
    but call that house
    a Home
    when it’s all that’s known to you

    picket fences
    on the outside
    come inside
    for some tea
    but stay too long after hours
    and there’s no quarter
    for you
    and me
  1. Home
    is a state of mind
    some say
    maybe a place
    where peace
    compassion
    love
    or security stay

    well I don’t know for certain
    but now that I’ve been away
    I’m starting to believe
    that maybe
    it’s kind-of true

    But when your home
    is a dark house
    of broken mirrors
    there’s only so much
    a mind
    can do

    I hope one day
    we all find our way
    through twisting corridors
    of heart and mind
    to a place
    to a time
    worthy of the title
    Home
